Abstract

Dual Energy at the ECR 2009

posted by DSCT.com editors | Mar 11, 2009

Dual energy computed tomography (DE CT) was one of the highlights of this year´s European Congress of Radiology in Vienna.

Various scientific sessions, a special focus session (chairman H. Alkadhi), the satellite symposium „For better patient care: What´s new in CT“, and a hands-on workshop (M. Kerl) represented the great interest in the potential of this relatively new technology.

With the Somatom Definition Flash, Siemens Healthcare has introduced a new Dual-Source CT  (DSCT) scanner. By the manufacturer´s account, the Definition Flash has the fastest scanning speed in CT (43 cm/s) and a temporal resolution of 75 ms. This should enable, for example, complete scans of the entire chest region in just 0.6 seconds.
